I've been wearing glasses for about 20 years, and have been totally dependent on them for the past 10. I'm active in a variety of sports activities, from golf to scuba diving to skiing. Glasses have been a necessary nuisance until I elected to have corrective laser surgery. Dr. Kalnins and her staff gave me the confidence and consultative service to be comfortable with my decision. The procedure and recovery was short and painless. The end result is a tremendously improved quality of life, and freedom and flexibility I'd forgotten. I love waking up and being able to read the alarm clock, and I don't miss switching between reading glasses, sunglasses and contact lenses. I wasn't sure how much the LASIK surgery would help me as my vision and astigmatism were so poor. The result was 20/20, and to say I'm ecstatic is a vast understatement. Dr. Kalnins performed nothing short of a miracle with this procedure. I had both eyes done at the same time and it took less than an hour. Imagine the joy of being able to see my alarm clock, shave me legs in the shower, and walk or run in the rain- without the need or inconvenience of eyeglasses. Eternally grateful... 

My quality of life has definitely improved after LASIK surgery. No more glasses contact lenses, and all that entails. In my profession as a police detective, an eight-hour day can suddenly change into a 16 to 20 hour day when you least expect it. The night after my LASIK surgery, I awoke at 2 A.M. and looked up through the skylight in my bedroom ceiling and observed all the clear brilliant stars which used to be just a blur. What a nice feeling to have good vision all of the time! I wish they had the technology to do LASIK surgery 20 years ago! 

I would like to thank you for making my dream come true. It was wonderful to be able to wake up in the morning without wondering how my day was going to be fighting with my glasses or lenses. Now I wake up and everything is so clear that I feel like a new person. Again, thank you so much.
